“I work at the Advocacy Center because I believe that everyone is entitled to quality legal representation, especially families and children confronting a judicial system that is often confusing, intimidating, and overwhelming. Throughout my career, I have been a dedicated advocate for individuals and families involved in our legal system who are experiencing crisis and trauma as they navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I am passionate about helping my clients confront the challenges of our legal system while being both an empathetic and tough advocate.“

Experience

• Spencer is responsible for building a Family Law and Custody Advocacy Program within the Advocacy Center that will serve our community and provide quality legal representation for families and children in need.
• Spencer has worked as a state prosecutor as an Assistant District Attorney, as a Domestic Violence Staff Attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina, and in private practice specializing in all aspects of family law. During her time with Legal Aid of North Carolina, Spencer was part of a team of attorneys who successfully defended an appeal of a domestic violence protective order (Simpson v. Silver, NC Court of Appeals 2024).
