Get to Know… Shaylea Rice

“I work at Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy because I have a passion for helping people and want to help make a difference in my community by helping to fight systematic barriers.

Experience

  • Shaylea supports the program staff and clients by managing incoming and outgoing communication, performs general office tasks, maintains case files, assists with preparing evidence for litigation, runs and analyzes reports and schedules appointments,
  • Before joining the Advocacy Center in October 2023, she was a Financial Crimes Specialist. She identified, researched and analyzed complex financial crime transactions and policy violations, conducting reports on individual and business accounts which were flagged for suspicious behavior.
  • In addition, Shaylea served as a Campus Political Organizer for Vote for Equality, a political action committee for the Feminist Majority. She helped manage a campus-wide Get Out the Vote campaign through phone banking, social media and canvassing.

  • University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice and a Minor in Legal Studies, Cum Laude Honors
