Get to Know… Kierra Hannon

“I have a heart and a love for helping individuals who are disenfranchised, marginalized, and often overlooked in society. I love helping people in meaningful ways. I have been able to be a helping hand, an empathetic listener, companion, and comforter to so many of the people I’ve met by way of the Advocacy Center. I love making a difference, no matter how seemingly small, one life at a time.

Experience

  • Kierra assists NC Medicaid beneficiaries by educating them about NC Medicaid resources available to meet health care needs, rights and responsibilities; advocating to resolve any issues so they can get the care they need; referring and connecting them to community services to support health-related needs, including legal aid, social services, etc.; and communicating to the State regarding issues we learn from beneficiary experiences to track them and work toward solutions. Prior to that, Kierra served as the Human Resources Specialist at the Advocacy Center, completing a wide variety of services, including maintaining and processing payroll, overseeing new hire orientation and onboarding, and more. Kierra’s first role at the Advocacy Center was the Administrative Specialist for the Family Support and Health Care Program to assist with its various needs.
