Get to Know… Arthur Bartlett

“I work at the Advocacy Center to fulfill my personal mission of living a purposeful life by helping those in greatest need with the lawyering skills I so fortunately acquired. What I enjoy most about this role is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in my clients’ lives.

Experience

  • Arthur specializes in tax controversy work and assisting local seniors with crafting their estate plans. He also presents at CLEs, the LITC Annual Conference, and outreach events throughout the greater Charlotte area. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Arthur was interviewed about tax law changes on numerous television and social media channels. 
  • Before rejoining the Advocacy Center in July 2024, Arthur was the Advocacy Center’s former Director of the North Carolina Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic and Legal Services for the Elderly program, Tax Controversy Professor at Charlotte School of Law, and Staff Attorney at the South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. He also co-authored the treatise Taxation of Distributions from Qualified Plans (Thomson Reuters/Tax & Accounting; 2013) and reviewed Chapter 19 – Securing Relief from Joint and Several Liability—Section 6015 of Effectively Representing Your Client Before the IRS, 7th Edition.
