CPCC Single Stop
Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy has partnered with Central Piedmont Community College’s Single Stop program to provide advice and representation to students facing legal issues that often serve as a barrier to success in the classroom. This program strives to transform the lives of students with critical needs by effectively connecting them to support systems and community resources, which will assist them in overcoming financial and legal barriers to student persistence and success.
As part of this effort, an attorney from Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy holds appointments with students on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at CPCC’s Central campus in Charlotte. Our attorney provides advice and representation to students in the following practice areas to ensure safety, security, and stability:
- Eligibility for public benefits
- Affordable Care Act disputes, appeals and tax issues
- Healthcare access issues through public programs
- Veteran’s benefits
- Tax disputes
- Immigration issues
- Consumer protection matters
- Expunctions
Additionally, Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy provides referrals and resources to students facing legal issues outside of these practice areas.
