Who we are

Community Partnerships

Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy connects with many organizations in the Charlotte area and around the state that help us meet the needs of our clients and help provide justice for those in need.

Legal Aid of North Carolina provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity. Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy (originally called Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, or LSSP) and LANC have always been Partners in Justice. From 1967 to 2002, LSSP and LANC were one organization working under the LSSP name. When funding limitations impacted the range of clients that could be served, a reorganization created two separate organizations that enabled both agencies to serve more low-income people in a wider variety of cases than they otherwise would have been able to do.
