Daniel Brown
Attorney
Education Law Program
“I work at the Advocacy Center to make sure our students in foster care have consistent access to a quality education centered on their unique needs. More than simply knowing their rights, the work is about helping them actually manifest those rights in a meaningful way.“
Experience
- Daniel is a staff attorney with the Education Law Program’s Foster Care and Education Initiative. Daniel provides technical legal assistance to students in foster care across the state, working in close partnership with the broad network of professionals typically involved in those cases, including the Departments of Social Services and the Guardian ad Litem’s office. At the state level, this work is leveraged to promote systemic change that will impact students in foster care whom we may otherwise be unable to personally assist.
- Prior to joining the Advocacy Center in September 2025, Daniel provided education advocacy for students in foster care at Council for Children’s Rights. He also managed the Citizenship Preparation Program at International House of Charlotte, providing instruction to immigrants in the naturalization process, and managed regional operations for an international education agency.
