Get to Know… LaShundra Hinson

“I work at the Advocacy Center because I am committed to elevating the voices of the people we serve in our community who feel unheard. It is an honor to advocate for the individual needs of each client by first providing compassion and understanding. I truly believe that one listening ear will bring about tremendous change.

Experience

  • LaShundra assists NC Medicaid beneficiaries with any questions or concerns they may have regarding their Medicaid plan. She helps them understand their rights and responsibilities under their plan, along with helping them to navigate the resources for a better comprehension of their plan.
  • Before joining the Advocacy Center in March 2024, LaShundra worked for the Department of Social Services as an Eligibility Specialist in Family and Children’s Medicaid where she evaluated and processed Medicaid Applications. She also spent over six years in Vital Records with the State of Tennessee, training around 95 counties on the use and navigation of the Vital Records Information Management System.
