In 2025, deep cuts in government funding forced both The Advocacy Center and Legal Aid NC to cut more than 25% of their staff — meaning fewer attorneys and paralegals supporting already underserved clients. While these reductions were unavoidable, they do not lessen the urgent need for fundraising support. In 2026, we are asking our supporters to stand with us in an extraordinary way. We invite you to DOUBLE DOWN on your support this year — helping us weather this volatile moment and ensure access to justice for those who need it most.
Civil legal needs are basic needs.
As Partners in Justice, Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy and Legal Aid of North Carolina-Charlotte help people facing issues of safety, housing and financial insecurity, and family stability.
1 in 3 Mecklenburg County residents is low-income.
71% of these residents experienced at least one civil legal problem last year.
Only 14% received legal help for their civil legal problem.
Proceeds from this event are helping more Charlotteans access legal solutions to barriers in employment, education, safety, housing, and other fundamental needs of life.
