Andrew Deschler

Andrew Deschler is the Co-Managing Attorney of the Community Empowerment Project at Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy.

Andrew joined Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy in 2024. Prior to joining the Advocacy Center, Andrew was an assistant district attorney in Rowan County. In this position, he served on the Conference of DA’s advisory board for implementing Raise the Age. Andrew has also spent time in private practice at a law firm specializing in criminal defense.

Andrew earned his J.D. from Campbell University School of Law in 2017.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his daughter, traveling, gardening, and watching the Carolina Panthers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

“I have worked for the State and for private practice on both sides of the criminal justice system, and I spent almost every day for 6 years in the courthouse,” Andrew said. “I have a perception of justice that comes from being on both sides and I know where the flaws in our system are. I want to do something where I can help my community and State, I want to make a difference for people who do not know the system like I do and bring that experience to CCLA and to the community.”
