Attorney, Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by American Tire Distributors

Meghan Lucas is an attorney, Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by American Tire Distributors at Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy. She represents low-wage workers in wage theft litigation and advocates for improved labor standards enforcement in North Carolina.

Meghan was an intern with the Unemployment Insurance Project in September of 2020, but then she returned as an attorney in September 2021. Before joining the Advocacy Center, Meghan graduated from Columbia Law School in New York City. In her law school clinic, she helped community organizations advocate for economic justice reforms, had internships with several immigrant and workers’ rights organizations, and received the Emil Schlesinger Labor Law Prize. Before attending law school, Lucas researched labor market access for refugees in the Middle East. She graduated from Davidson College with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Arabic. In her free time, Meghan enjoys hiking, climbing, gardening, and playing with her dogs and cat. Meghan works for Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy because many Advocacy Center clients are eligible for our low-income legal services due to low wages and other forms of workplace exploitation. “I am happy to work for an organization that is dedicated to tackling the root causes of economic and racial injustice”.
