Paralegal-Advocate

Gladys Mendieta is a Paralegal Advocate for the Immigrant Justice Program of Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy. She assists immigrants specifically, children who need to secure status in the U.S.

Before joining CCLA in July of 2021, Gladys was also a paralegal for a private immigration attorney in Charlotte. She prepared family-based petitions, naturalizations, assisted in removal defense cases, and a few employment and religious based petitions. Gladys graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with Minors in French and Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Studies. In her free time, she enjoys reading and exploring nature trails. Gladys loves working for Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy: “Since I was young, I have always been fascinated by different cultures and interacting with different people. I also had a unique experience growing up as a first-generation immigrant. My family had difficulties navigating various systems here, so it is my passion to assist families who find themselves in similar positions today. The immigration system is especially complex, so it is my mission to help ease people’s fears and worries.”
