Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, and McGuireWoods will host a CLE replay on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status on June 15th from 2-4pm led by Kiara Vega, Rebekah Niblock, attorneys with our Immigrant Justice Program, Sharon Dove, attorney and director of our Immigrant Justice Program, and Gena Graham Morris, family law attorney with James McElroy and Diehl. The CLE will include 2 hours of general credit.
During this training, attendees will:
-Gain a broader understanding of the issues, systemic and individual, immigrants and immigrant children face in Mecklenburg county.
-Learn an overview of the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status process and its impact in Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
-Understand the process for and be able to file for and obtain custody orders for immigrant children pursuing SIJS.
The recorded training will be followed by live Q+A from Rebekah Niblock and Sharon Dove.
NC barred attorneys are preferred, however, attorneys barred in other states can partner with NC barred attorneys to participate. Spanish speakers and translators are greatly encouraged to volunteer (can be legal assistants, paralegals, or attorneys!).
We expect that attendees generally commit to taking on at least one SIJS custody case. Please email meghanr@charlottelegaladvocacy.org with any questions.
