What is Charlotte Triage?
Charlotte Triage is a state and nationally recognized volunteer recruitment program that collaborates with Charlotte Center for Legal advocacy and Legal Aid of North Carolina-Charlotte to bring the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community together and address some of the most critical legal problems impacting economic mobility in the county.
Social Security Overpayments
An overpayment occurs when the Social Security Administration (SSA) provides recipients with more supplemental income than their disability or work status allows. SSA will reduce or stop recipients’ benefits to recover payments, even if recipients rely on these payments for living expenses. Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy requests volunteers to assist elderly and disabled people with appealing overpayments, requesting waivers, and negotiating reduced payment rates.
